Hero World Challenge.
To put a fine point on the likelihood for betting success on the Hero World Challenge it would simply be this. There are only 18 players. That gives you 18/1 odds on picking the winner. However, with a field as small as this don't expect too much back. One thing you can do is exploit the free bets that are on offer by the bookies looking to separate you and your cash. With that in mind it is well worth checking out the offers, opening an account and putting your free bet on a player to get maximum returns. That's what I'll be doing. Most will do a "Bet £10 and £30 in free bets" offer. With that in mind...where should you put your hard earned money this week?
Jordan Spieth 4/1 (Stan James)
This is the best price for Spieth and understandably so. He won this at a canter last year before he ended up dominating the rest of the season. Winning the Hero Classic by 10 shots over Henrik Stenson. The difference being that he has become one hell of player since then. Odds are short on him...this could be where you can place your free bets if you decide to open a new account somewhere.
Dustin Johnson 7/1 (Ladbrokes)
Golf's nearly man when compared to the likes of Spieth, Day and McIlroy. Had his fair share of bad luck last year yet still showed just how good he really is. Possibly the man most likely to challenge Spieth...if he can keep his head. 7/1 is the best you can get and well worth a shot.
Ricky Fowler 12/1 (Ladbrokes)
Came T-6th here last year. Doesn't sound great given the shortened field but his nearest rivals last year won't be here. No Stenson, Day or Bradley...would have placed him T-3rd. Another man who got better last year just like Spieth. Could be Spieth's nearest challenger. At better odds than Spieth you might fancy him.
Patrick Reed 14/1 (Skybet)
Looking for the form man? Then take a look at Patrick Reed. Last four tournaments on the European Tour...and never out of the top 10 including an impressive 2nd place at the BMW Masters after losing in a play off. Tied 7th with Spieth at the WGC HSBC. In great form. Can he do it? Well at these odds...he is my bet to take on Spieth.
