It was a disappointing week for Golfhacker, but let’s remember that it’s late February and that was the first tournament in a while that we walked away with nothing. Every good run has to end somewhere. Riviera produced a few shocks. Scott can putt again, Spieth and Garcia missed the cut and McIlroy fell on the final day. Plenty to think about going into the Honda Classic indeed. So who should you be looking out for this week? Here’s my top five.
Rickie Fowler 12/1 (Ladbrokes)
Fowler has had great start to the season. Winning in Abu Dhabi, lost the play off a couple of weeks ago in Phoenix...but all in all looking great. Expect that to continue here. The bookies think so to placing him as second favourite behind McIlroy. Will also be looking to push further to make his place in the top four more secure. Top player.
Adam Scott 20/1 (Betfred)
Switching putter made Scott half the player he was but now seems to have got the hang of it once again. Looked strong at Riviera which is excellent timing as Major season begins soon. Didn’t play here last season but did come 12th in 2014. Looking like a champion once again.
Patrick Reed 22/1 (PaddyPower)
Finished 7th here last year but looking like a stronger player this time around. T-6 in his last appearance at Pebble Beach. Looks like Reed is back after a few poor weeks following this 2nd place at the Tournament of Champions.
Luke Donald 66/1 (Coral)
Luke has had an impressive run on this course. Five times he has come in the top ten from the eight occasions he has played here. He has also won this event back in 2006 and came 7th last year. If you like an outsider then here is your man.
Daniel Berger 100/1 (888)
He got cut last week but hey...lots did including the World Number One so no shame for Berger. High odds on this fella but he did come 2nd here last year so clearly suits his game. Fingers crossed he does that again or better.
