The Coates Golf Championship in Florida will be heavily focuses around the World Number One, Lydia Ko. She has some time off, refreshed and seems ready to continue her dominance in the Women’s game once again. However, from a betting point of view there seems little reward. the bookies have her as a firm favourite at a very low price. Seems rather pointless you may think? But if we learned anything from last week it is this...there are some changes happening. Namely the rise of Charley Hull on the LPGA and Paula Creamer’s resurgence following a change in swing coach. However, some things stayed the same. Stacy Lewis in runner up position whilst a South Korean goes off to win an LPGA event.
With all of this in mind you’ll have to develop formula to do well betting at an LPGA event. Noticeably, focus on these changes and how well players did last time out and always, always include a South Korean in your one’s to watch section. So without further ado...here are Golfhacker’s one’s to watch in Florida this week. Other than Lydia Ko and Stacy Lewis of course.
Ha-Na Jang 20/1
Our South Korean pick of the week. Jang has a good history at the event...given that it has only been played once before. She tied 2nd with Jessica Korda and Lydia Ko. Whilst Ko is a 4/1 the price for Jang is higher...Could be Ko’s closest competitor at a great price too. Came T-11 last week in a tight tournament so any winter cobwebs should be removed. Looks good, likes the course...this one could be interesting.
Anna Nordqvist 20/1
Also at 20/1 is Solheim Cup star, Anna Nordqvist. The World Number 13 had an impressive week in the Bahamas finishing T-2 and did lead the event. A quality golfer who oozes finesse and style. She’ll be hoping to go one better in Florida. At this price she is the top European.
Brittany Lincicome 40/1
Made it to our list for two weeks in a row. Why? T-8 in the Bahamas and could have done better if not for a couple of errors. She can smash it on her day and T-8 on the first one back was impressive. What’s more impressive is the price. 40/1 for a Major winner with a fierce competitive streak...Keep putting her at these prices and we will always be tempted to go for it.
Charley Hull 40/1
Also at 40/1 is England’s Charley Hull. We know what she is capable of here in the UK. She is something special. Now the LPGA know to. Co lead in the Bahamas for three days until a slight stumble saw her finish T-8. This kid is going places on the LPGA this is an unfair price so take it whilst you can...she’ll be in the 20/1 category sooner that you think.
Paula Creamer 66/1
New year, New swing coach. Seems to be working as the Pink Panther finished T-5 in the Bahamas. We love Paula and whilst she is at this price and this form she should break the top 10 again. A great not so outsider this. 66/1 for someone who came 5th last week...get it before her price starts going down which it will over the year.
