Justin Rose wears a pair when out on the course. He’ll be wearing them next at the Masters in Augusta when he tees off in his quest to secure his first green jacket. For that reason, we felt that it would only right to try them out ourselves. The “Whipstart” by Adidas Sport Eyewear is the latest release by the sportswear giant. We were given a pair to see how they are on the course. Justin Rose likes them. He said: “I’m really enjoying playing in the Whipstart. The field of vision is unbelievable, and they don’t slide around, so when I’m looking down in my address position and make a full turn and a full swing, there’s no movement of the glasses on my face.” Well, let’s see if Justin Rose is right.
The glasses are stored in a hardened plastic case which is ideal to fit nicely in your golf bag. Inside, the glasses are further protected with a sunglasses bag that can also be used to clean your lenses. The glasses themselves are designed not to slide around on your face. This can sometimes be a common occurrence when a player swings. These glasses have ribbed grip temples for flawless stability and state-of-the- art nose pads for an adjustable fit to various nose shapes. During the swing, the glasses did everything they needed to do. They felt comfortable and stayed exactly where they were meant to. This allowed for a confident swing whilst wearing the “Whipstart”.
The lenses were fantastic. We tested the glasses as the sun was setting. This time of day can sometimes be troublesome as the sun hits your face. In address, the glare of the ball did not affect our swing and as we tracked our shot, the ball remained visible throughout. We were massively impressed by the “Whipstart”. The Light Stabilizing Technology™ within the lenses allowed for a strong field of vision even as the sun set.
It turns out that Justin Rose was right about these glasses. We really enjoyed playing in them too. The “Whipstart” is available in nine different colour variations. What’s more...we have to admit they look pretty cool too. Look stylish on the course with a fantastic field of view whilst taking full swings without them falling off. Adidas have done a great job with these indeed.
Prices start at £80.
