Following the success of its Longest Drive Competition last year, American Golf will once again be searching for the nations Big Hitters again this year. Now in its second year, the American Golf Longest Drive Championship, is looking for this year’s champion.
The amazing thing about this event is that anyone can take part. All of American Golf’s 106 stores will host qualifying events over the weekend of the Masters, 8th – 10th April. The longest drivers in men’s under 45s, men’s over 45s and ladies’ categories will make it through to the Regional Finals, with a winner from each category getting through to the Grand Final at the American Golf National Academy at High Legh, Cheshire on 19th August.
The aim of the event is simple. To engage people but also to unlock people’s hidden talents. Head of Marketing at American Golf, Daniel Gathercole, explained:
“This event has always been about unlocking people’s potential and discovering future stars. Last year, two of our winners, Rebecca McGinley and Steve Kent, had never competed in a Long Drive event before. This event can really change people’s lives so we encourage anyone to come along and give it your best 3 shots.”
Last year’s under 45 winner, Dan Konyk, will be returning to High Legh to defend his championship. Can you take him on? Golfhacker will happily give it go...we suggest you head down to your local American Golf store and see if you can too.
