If there is one thing I will miss most about the BBC losing the rights of The Open to Sky Sports...It will be Ken Brown. Ever since I started watching Golf I have loved him. What I loved most was "Ken on the Course". It was always what I enjoyed most. Ken Brown showing me not only the perils of the course the players were playing on but also helping me to become a better player.
Ken Brown however, has remembered us everyday golfers who watched him and his tips throughout the years and released One Putt: The Ultimate guide to perfect putting. One thing is for sure, It is something that will help us all improve. As winter hits every golfer hard, here is something that will keep your focus.
Don't go thinking that this is a dry book about putting. Far from it. Not only is it informative with tuition from one of golfs finest putters but it is also much more than that. Reading One Putt is a joyful journey with the Master as your guide. Brown not only highlights aspects from his life and his own personal journey but also underpins the techniques used by many pros in the game from today and yesteryear.
Ken Brown guides the reader through 8 simple stages:
1) Choosing a putter.
2) The basic set-up
3) Reading greens
4) The set-up routine
5) The Stroke
6) Touch and feel
7) Tips and drills
8) One putting.
Each section comes with sound advice and fantastic pictorial guides to help you through. Intertwined along the way are Ken's autobiographical stories linked to the art of putting.
Having tried some of Ken's drills, Golfhacker has even noticed an improvement in his putting. They are easy to follow that even someone unteachable like me could do them.
This book is clearly written with love and passion by Ken. In fact, that passion becomes infectious the more you read. For those who think putting is a dull subject then Mr Brown may just change your mind.
