Icons of the game, Major Champions, and rising stars of the future will come together at the Berenberg Gary Player Invitational at Wentworth Club, London, on 23 July, 2018 for one of the top philanthropic events on the sporting calendar.
The Gary Player Invitational global series has helped The Player Foundation raise more than $64 million for good causes, and under the banner of 'A Union of Golf and Giving’, Black Knight International and title sponsor Berenberg will welcome guests to the Gary Player-designed Edinburgh Course at Wentworth, the day after The Open at Carnoustie.
This year's stellar invitee list includes Berenberg golf ambassadors led by Gary Player and including Tom Watson, Martin Kaymer, Branden Grace, Fred Couples, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O’Meara and Georgia Hall.
The Black Knight will also welcome, from the men's game: Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Tom Lehman, Haydn Porteous, Andy Sullivan and Lucas Bjerregaard.
Players from the women’s game include: Gemma Dryburgh, Nicole Hage, Annabel Dimmock, Olivia Cowan, Henni Goya and Alexandra O'Laughlin.
"The London leg of our global series is such a special event for me, being the day after The Open, and I am proud to announce that we will again be raising funds for our chosen charity, Depaul, to positively impact the lives of homeless youth in London," said 18-time Major winner, philanthropist and tournament host, Gary Player.
With the valuable support from Berenberg, SAP, Rolex, Porsche, and all our sponsors, this year's event looks set to be one of the best yet, and I look forward to welcoming many dear friends and guests to Wentworth for our charitable event that I am so passionate about."
The London leg of the Gary Player Invitational series sits alongside similar events staged in the UAE, Japan, USA, China and South Africa that assist The Player Foundation in raising important charitable funds worldwide.
Dr. Hans-Walter Peters, Managing Partner of Berenberg, the second oldest bank in the world, added: "Many of us enjoy very privileged, healthy lifestyles and it is important that we do not forget those less fortunate who need ongoing help and support. Through our continued sponsorship of this event, Berenberg is very happy to play its part in making a positive difference to young lives in the UK."
Marc Player, CEO of Black Knight International, concluded: "The Player Foundation continues to be focused on its ultimate goal of raising $100 million for children's causes, and we are confident that through our series of global Gary Player Invitational events, and other initiatives, we remain on course to hit our ambitious target."
