England rugby hero Mike Tindall MBE confirmed for Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship 2017

Rugby World Cup winner and England legend Mike Tindall MBE is the latest sporting star to be added to an incredible line-up of professional golfers and celebrities taking part in this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. The 84th edition of the event takes place between 8-11 August at Nailcote Hall, Warwickshire and promises to be a wonderful celebration of golf.
Tindall is making his debut at the Championships which brings together stars from the world of sport and entertainment. Joining Tindall at the course next month are BBC presenting duo Naga Munchetty and Dan Walker. Boyzone singer Keith Duffy and Westlife star Brian McFadden will also feature as will Talksport presenter Georgie Bingham.
Representing England on 75 occasions, the highlight of Tindall’s career undoubtedly came in 2003 as part of the England side that won the Rugby World Cup for the first time. He was an instrumental part of England’s 20-17 triumph over Australia and over the course of his 17-year career he was highly regarded as one of the best centres in the world game. As well as his success on the international stage, he also made an impact at club level playing over 100 times for both Bath and Gloucester.
Tindall said: “I’m really looking forward to playing at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship for the first time. I am a big golf fan and can’t wait to test myself on the Nailcote Hall course.
“The four days promise to be great fun and I’m sure it will be extremely competitive with so many great players on show in both the pro and celebrity ams.”
Former Ryder Cup captain and The 1969 Open champion Tony Jacklin CBE is the host of the upcoming Championship and said: “Mike Tindall is a fantastic addition to this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. As a World Cup winner, he is one of England’s sporting heroes and I can’t wait to see him tackle the course.”
Once again Farmfoods are the Headline Sponsors of the event and have donated €150,000 to the prize fund to ensure the very best golfers from around the country are attracted to the Championship with €50,000 on offer for the winner.
Leading brand agency Champions (UK) plc are back organising the event and Managing Director Matt Hayes said: “It is fantastic to get so many sporting icons on board for this year’s Championships and are delighted to welcome Mike Tindall to the event for the first time.”

Professional names already announced for the 2017 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship include our tournament host, 1969 US Open champion Tony Jacklin CBE, women’s legends of the game, Dame Laura Davies and Trish Johnson, 1991 Masters champion Ian Woosnam OBE and Italy’s greatest player, Costantino Rocca. 1993 Ryder Cup star Peter Baker, 2016 BP3 champions Mark Mouland, Paul Lawrie OBE, as well as 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell.
Already announced celebrity golfers appearing over the four days of the 2017 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship include 1992 Formula 1 world champion Nigel Mansell CBE, England football legend Peter Shilton OBE, ex-England and Nottinghamshire cricketer James Taylor, ‘Harry Potter’ stars Oliver and James Phelps, as well as ex-Aston Villa and Bayern Munich striker Alan McInally. Olympians Gail Emms MBE, Derek Redmond and Kriss Akabusi will also be in attendance, as will Rugby World Cup winner Neil Back MBE, Talksport presenters Max Rushden and Georgie Bingham and comedian Jasper Carrott.
