The man who sealed Ryder Cup victory for Europe in 2014, Jamie Donaldson is the latest golfing star to be announced for this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. Taking place at Warwickshire’s stunning Nailcote Hall between 8-11 August the annual event sees professional golfers and celebrities come together to tackle the prestigious Cromwell Course.
With less than one week to go until the Championship gets underway this addition to the all-star line-up adds to the excitement and build up already surrounding the event. European Tour winner Jamie Donaldson will join the roster for the Pro-AM on Wednesday and Thursday. He is best known for his performance at the 2014 Ryder Cup where he hit the winning shot to seal victory for Europe playing alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose.
Since turning professional in the year 2000, Jamie has competed on both the European and PGA tours. He has three European Tour wins to his name, the first of these came at the Irish Open in 2012. Following this he also was victorious in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the D+D Real Czech Masters. Having also played in all four of the Majors, Jamie brings his vast golfing experience to the Championship.
Aiming to add the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship to his list of honours, Jamie joins Europe’s most successful Ryder Cup captain Tony Jacklin CBE, former Masters winner Ian Woosnam OBE, World Golf Hall of Fame member Dame Laura Davies, Italy’s greatest golfer Costantino Rocca and former Open champion Paul Lawrie OBE at this year’s event. All of whom are hoping to walk away with a share of the incredible €150,000 prize fund.
As well as the professionals, plenty of famous faces from the world of sport and entertainment will also be vying for the Celeb-AM prize. These include England’s Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall MBE, Premier League greats Robbie Fowler & Andrew Cole, 1992 Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell CBE and Harry Potter stars James and Oliver Phelps.
Returning as event host is two-time Major winner Tony Jacklin CBE and he is delighted that another big name has been added to the line-up. “Jamie has a big reputation in the golfing world and adds yet more prestige to this year’s Championship. I am looking forward to see how he fares taking on the Cromwell Course.”
Leading brand agency Champions (UK) plc are back to organise the event and Managing Director Matthew Hayes said, “It is great to see so many professional golfers and celebrities getting involved with this year’s Championship, and this year is shaping up to be the best yet.”
